Our History
The mission in St Vincent and the Grenadines was founded in 1980 by Dr. Sam Massey. His 40 years of service and inspirational leadership, along with the efforts of countless dedicated volunteers, has laid the foundation for an expanding project led by Sight For Life and eye surgeons Dr. Cathleen McCabe and Dr. Eric Purdy.

Sight for Life's dedicated leadership team has served on more than 100 surgical trips around the world, including St. Vincent, Kenya, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Uruguay and Mexico.

Introducing the Cyrus Health Center
In an effort to expand the number of patients it serves, Sight for Life is building a state-of-the-art surgical center in Kingston, the capital of St. Vincent. The Cyrus Health Center, is named in honor of trailblazing general surgeon Dr. Cecil Cyrus, who dedicated his life to providing medical care for St. Vincentians until his death in 2023. This facility will increase access to surgical and medical eye care for the community of St. Vincent, while providing a platform for medical education for local physicians.
